That saw was last produced around 2008 and represents the last actual pro model saw that Poulan ever produced. It is 54cc and far superior to anything else built in that class such as MS290 and 455 Rancher. It has split cases, adjustable oiler, and very solid construction. Do a muffler mod and that is all it needs to be a really good firewood saw.

In my opinion the 4620 Poulan is actually a pretty good saw, we sell them at Wal-Mart for $149. As long as you take care of them they will last you a long time as a homeowner use saw. The specs of the Dolmar made Makita EA3200 is humble at 1,35kw/1,81hp and have a dry weight without bar/chain at 4,1kg/9,0lb according to Dolmar, mine came with a 14" guide bar. Yep, Jonsered is gone. There will still be Redmax 9000's out there and they are just a rebadged 2188, which in turn is just (basically) a red and black Husqvarna 390. That is a common practice as is lengthening the stud slot. Stihl, Cannon, and GB have a wide variety of bars for 070/090's.

It might take more pulling than is healthy at one attempt. You could also pull the muffler and prime straight into the cylinder.
Okay, in the market for a chainsaw and want a Stihl due to closeness of dealer and past good luck with brand (trimmer / blower). Have it narrowed down to: Ms270 MS280 MS290 MS310 260 I realize this is a wide range, but only reason I lean away from the 290 and 310 is the weight. I plan to cut about 7 cords a year for home heat.Hard to know for sure what you've got there without more info or a pic. But an 034 should have 3/8" chain. So as long as it's not square ground (not common) you'd need a 7/32" round file. And as the cutter shortens in length, 13/64 and finally 3/16.
